i used to scout with preist and make obolisks, my justification is 'knowledge is power' which is completely true, obs are invaluable, but, costs alot for ra and takes ages to get the up unlike isis. One time i was playing against graceful_adept a few years ago, now known as spoink, and he said to me, why do you scout with preist, i said about obs, but it made me think. Now i scout with pharoh for the better. He also commented on my lack of ups pre classic which also made me change my style a bit. Then of course i discovered the sphinx after years of absolute ignorance.
Its good to have better players to help you improve, i mean, my improvement incriments have been so small due to really not watching recs maybe i dont know, but also not having anyone to talk to about ra strats and starts in general. I may have been 175+++ 3 years ago if i did, but my learning was the long, self taught way.
However, the best BO in the world is not going to make you play well unless you have the micro and game skill to pull off a win, like when to run, fight knowing other things that come with experience. But a good BO is a very solid start.

As Ra, especially if I'm FH-ing, I always run my pharoah around, sticking close to my tc. The point is to find a couple gold mines, then get back to empowering asap. If you reach heroic and don't know where your next gold is, where the hell are you going to put your first mig? In your town = easy gold cut.

You put your mig outside your base at a second gold mine as ra and you've lost all ready against a good greek or norse player. They've already got 20 cav/hops/hersir running around frantically trying to find it. At 8:30 when you've probably got it up they'll be attacking it and pretty much taking it down getting you in worse position. Putting it in your base is the only option if you're FHing as Ra, because cren towers + sphinx as viper says all the time will own any cav army.

I have to say this talk of BO's is quite annoying, does anyone here actually use a set BO? Or something more of a template? oO I'd be quite distressed if one of you did the same set thing in every game - no matter what the map.

I'm gonna take your talk of BO and cange every word to template. Makes me happier.

mail. A set BO is probably better if you dont have as much experience as it means you can play consistantly well. As you are Ra and dont need a great deal of hunt its not too hard. Although the amount of herd you find could chnage things.
I have actually started using a third wood gatherer in th beginning to get pickaxe faster then putting him back to food after. Seems to be working ok. Although theers not much you can do with ra, the order of putting villies on gold and food can chnage how much gold you need for farms.

Except maybe Thor, Ra is perhaps the only god you could do the exact same BO for every land map.

I can usually stop the hop/tox, hipps, etc. from people... probably because I'm usually the one doing it, and know what stops me. 

Basically, my FH with Ra will involve at LEAST one sphinx, and 1 barracks to make a spear or two. It's almost always enough to scare off any attacks. Use eclipse to make your sphinxes super OP, and they always run.

Most people aren't willing to go kamikaze that early on to try and stop you, you know?

Really? Most people I know are... Everyone Viper seems to play does AND under cren'd up towers. :S Eclipse is ez beaten by greek heros aswell. I'd always have both out vsing a ra. That's a dead sphinx pretty quick. And a dead migdol soon after.

As far as I'm concerned zeus hops are really the only thing that'll take down a mig before 8 minutes.

Others can stop you from building it, but once it's up they wouldn't be able to take it down.

There have been many times i have built my mig outside my base, BUT, against a thor player who has 25 raiders running around, this is not a good idea, not v possy or zeus who is rushing.

I have to agree that it is suicide to build a migdol outside of at least 1 tower cover vs an aggressive player who has alot of classical units.
Agsinst isis i will usually go a mig ouside my base, vs ra too. But against the majority, its just not worth it. You can let them try to kill your mig, and they lose a few units and maybe run or keep trying and just die. I build it on the side facing the next mine i want to obtain. depending on where thier units are, maybe they are somewhere else and you can get the mig up and get some camels before they realise.

Yes I understand ra as I have said.

However pretty sure all gods are agressive vs ra. ^^ Sept for ra. Hades can be a better pos because of athena. Using restore to take down mig or pest to also take down the mig. Either way. It's a bad idea vs greek gods. Vs isis... I suppose you could, but I don't think it's a great idea - they up 30 secs faster than you and probably already have a siege tower by the time you've got the mig up. So... Just not sure. Set can shift forward and have a siege tower out at 7:30 attacking your base before you advance!?! If they have good hunt. As you say, thor runs around with 25 raiders and you want to abuse your cren towers and not lose your unprotected mig... Odin can play like thor, or rush. heimdall tower lame all that stuff which is impossible to build outside of your base against. And well... loki nuff said.

Suppose if they FH you can should build outside your base.


@Fenix, whole point of semi-fh is to expand and control a second gold mine. So yeah, of course you'd build a mig next to it if you'd semi'd.

FH is pure suicide against most gods, especially Greek. You'd get away with it vs Norse, perhaps.

You have to FH vs another Ra, though - unless on high hunt where you don't have any farms when he tries to Locust.

Vs Greek, I probably would go Semi-fh. Rain at around 8 mins... 2 Sphinx and 15/20 barracks units and get to heroic for 9:30-10. You'd probably get your mig up safer then as you could eclipse to stop GPs and make your 2/3 sphinx op. He may have a larger army, but at least you have the gold to counter it.
